hello this is Nick wit Nick's computer
fix comm and today I'm going to show you
how to discover your IP address for your
local area network as well as your wide
area network and there's a few methods
here so let's get started first of all
let's go ahead and click on your Start
menu and under search programs and files
type in CMD to take you to a command
prompt where you will type in IP conf
i.g and hit the enter key and this will
display your IP address for your local
area network which is coming from your
router most people have routers in their
homes these days for wireless
connections and this is one method the
next method thing I'm going to show you
let's go ahead and close this out would
be to go into your system tray and click
on your wireless icon and click on the
network wireless network that you're
connected to and do a right click and
click on status and come over here and
click on details and you will see your
IP address that is on your local area
network so your PC IP address here is
only for the local area network that's
coming from your router now - let's
close this out to discover what your
wide area network IP address is go ahead
and open up a internet browser and go
out to my IP address comm and again
that's some
ww-why p address comm and this will give
you your IP address of your when your
wide area network and this is the IP
address that your internet service
provider like Road Runner or Bright
House or Comcast or AT&T is providing
for you to your modem and this is the
one that comes from the outside not from
the inside your inside your local area
network which I just discussed at the
beginning of this video and this is your
wide area network IP address so keep
that in mind and at any rate I hope this
tutorial helped you out and have a good
day
